What makes a souvenir personal?
Personal meaning does not require a long list of custom features. An object can matter because you met its maker, learned what it represents or participated in creating it. Start by asking what you would like to remember: a place, a person, a skill or time spent together.
For purchased crafts, ask where and by whom the piece was made. For food and drink, read the label and ask about ingredients. A visitor-area shop location alone does not establish a product's origin. Those questions help you choose deliberately rather than collecting something only because it fits in your bag.
How is an experience something you can take home?
A hands-on activity can leave you with both an object and an understanding of how you arrived at it. During the Academy of Rum experience, tasting and education lead into flavour selection, mixing, testing, bottling, capping, labelling and waxing, with instructor guidance.
Your finished bottle has a name you choose for the label. Individual bookings make one bottle each; the pair option makes one shared bottle. The experience page describes the actual inclusions. This is a guided rum creation, rather than a claim that guests grow sugarcane or complete years of barrel aging during a visit.
What other keepsakes come with the memory?
Each participant receives a certificate of completion. Guests can take their own photographs during the class, provided they follow the safety instructions around hot equipment. A photo of your work in progress can capture a detail that a finished-bottle photograph misses.
Official Academy shirts and additional handcrafted rums are available to purchase separately. The shirt is a way to carry the graduation moment into the rest of your holiday. Ask about the available selection during your visit; a guide cannot promise a particular size, design or rum flavour will be in stock.
How do you choose a bottle name?
Choose a name that will still make sense when the holiday is over. It might refer to a shared moment, a place you enjoyed or the character you hoped to create. If you are making a bottle together, agree on the name as part of the experience.
Bring two or three name ideas: a shared memory, an island-inspired phrase or a name that will make you smile when you open the bottle at home. Your instructor will guide you through the label, bottling and wax finish. Check the spelling before the label goes on; that small detail becomes part of the keepsake.
What should you check before travelling with rum?
Before buying or creating a bottle, check your cruise line's alcohol policy, your airline's baggage rules and your destination's customs requirements. The applicable requirements depend on the journey. A sealed or waxed bottle does not by itself establish that it can be carried in cabin baggage or kept in your cruise cabin.
Ask the team about the bottle and packing arrangements if you need specifics, then verify transport rules with the relevant carrier or authority.
